Fisheries Update:

With June 16th fast approaching it’s all looking good for a cracking start to the new season. Our bailiff team, contractors Bob and Tony have been working hard to prepare and repair pegs for the off. As we had high river levels and rain, this delayed our works of which have resumed. We have now started on 3 further new pegs at Sydney Avenue, to be completed ASAP, so bare with us and the plan is to replace them all in the near future. We shall go from there to Monkmoor and add another 2 new pegs to make it up to 18 new pegs completed. After Monkmoor we shall go to Mousecroft Pool and install 3 new high build disabled platforms. The next job is to move to Emstrey and install 5 new pegs to improve further access.
Whilst these works are happening we shall be making a permanent fix on the Monkmoor lane to stop it breaking up and reduce the pothole situation there as best we can. Mr Davies the farmer has very kindly help us with the start, but the bottom is still very wet. We are going to drain this to dry it out and then complete the fix. This will be completed as quickly as we can. Please be careful on the bottom half of the lane at the moment.

In August we are launching a New Junior Academy for youngster and they’re parents to have coaching on our sport of fishing. There will also be an educational side with respect for protecting our wildlife and the environment. This will be launched in phases and will grow with the demand and interest. We are busy setting this up at the present moment and full details will be announced on our website and Facebook pages prior to the launch.

I hope you all have a super season and catch some amazing fish. Please send us your photos.
Can I remind you to read our fisheries rules and understand them. COVID is still about so please respect each other and our voluntary staff. Please take all your litter home and waste tackle home and bin it. You will see above a photo of some litter left at Mousecroft Pool. I identified them abd they will get it back in the post with a letter.

All this is not possible without your support as members and working with our partners, Shrewsbury Town Council, The Environment Agency, Angling Trust, Shropshire Wildlife, The Severn Rivers Trust and many others. Also our team Who work very hard to keep us moving forwards. Thank you.

Enjoy your fishing everyone and tight lines.
