Shrewsbury River Classic 3 Day Festival 2019

Due to the inconsistent weather conditions of rain and flooding, I am once again postponing the festival that should be taking place on 19th, 20th and 21st November. I am making a sensible and common sense decision as I cannot foresee any improvement in the weather to commit to a three day event that would be fair to all taking part. By now we would have concluded all our major matches and as of now we haven’t managed to fish one, not even an open match.

This will give all confirmed entries adequate time to sort themselves and give some space for the river to settle back to hopefully some normality. The whole idea of the festival is for all concerned to enjoy the event and have a fair chance of winning. I have the strongest desire for the festival to be fished, safely and in the best way it can be.

With this in mind I am moving it to February next year on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The new dates and details will be announced this coming Friday on this page and on Shrewsbury Town Fisheries website.

This has been a very difficult period for all concerned and tough call each time to make. We do not know the state of the fishery as yet in the County Ground and Quarry as the river level has not dropped low enough for us to even inspect it to date. The pegs are still under water. Let’s hope it improves and soon.
